Poetry Slam™ motto
THE POINTS ARE NOT THE POINT, THE POINT IS POETRY.
Poetry Slam Vs Open Mic Reading
Poetry Slam founded by Marc Smith from Chicago in 1984, is designed for the audience to react vocally and openly to all aspects of the show, including the poet's performance, the judges' scores and the host's banter.
What kind of poetry is read at Poetry Slams?
Poets are free to do work in any style on any subject if it is not a specialised (thematic) Poetry Slam.
