In Singapore, Poetry Slam™ is a regular feature in the literary scene. So far over 150,000 students and the general public have participated and watched Poetry Slam™ in Singapore since 2003. For the first 5 years the monthly Poetry Slam was held at Velvet Underground, Zouk. on last Tuesday of each month.
The inaugural National Youth Poetry Slam League (NYPSL) Championship was launched in 2006 by Word Forward Limited with the support of MICA through its Creative Community, Singapore. A lively competition with attractive prizes, NYPSL has fast become a popular and well respected literary fiesta.
