About Word Forward
Word Forward (WF) a not-for-profit literary arts company has been committed to nurturing writers and performers since its inception in 2003. It has successfully established itself as a leading presence in the Singapore literary scene.
Word Forward, the founder and trademark holder of Poetry Slam™ in Singapore had close to 150,000 students and adults watching or participating in the poetry slams events to date. The annual National Youth Poetry Slam™ League attracts 200 over participants to compete for the challenge shield.
WF is registered as a training provider with the National Arts Council, Arts in Education Programme (NAC-AEP). WF has developed its strength in 3 core areas; playwriting and drama; poetry writing and Poetry Slam™; and creative writing and storytelling.
To deliver holistic programmes, WF has woven writing and performance into each of the 3 core areas as well as provide youth various platforms to showcase their skills - National Poetry Slam™ League (NYPSL) and Write Stuff Playwriting and Drama competitions.
WF produces and curates many literary events in Singapore in collaboration with organisations such as the Gifted Education Branch (MOE), National Schools Literature Festival Committee, The Arts House, CDCs, Embassies, The Esplanade, British Council, National Library Board and National Arts Council.

Programme Director
Chris Mooney-Singh, is a widely-published writer with several publications collections and CDs to his name. In addition, he also writes and publishes fiction and produced works for the theatre for general and youth audiences.
After years of teaching writing, performance and being engaged in literary publication and arts management, he has expanded his interest in the digital media by creating and curating ‘Islands of the Arts’ – a new online literary publication that also serves as a virtual meeting point for international writers and artists as well as international audience.
Chris Mooney-Singh was a guest at many international writers festival: the Austin International Poetry Festival (2003), the Man Hong Kong International Literary Festival (2004) and the Kuala Lumpur International Literary Festival (2007), the Salt of the Tongue Festival and the Melbourne Overload Poetry Festival in 2010.
Presently, he travels between Singapore and Australia where he is presently PHD research scholar in creative writing at Monash University, Melbourne.
